The murder trial for Cristobal Palacio, the Kendall bank executive who is accused of gunning down his ex-wifes new husband in the driveway of his home in 2008, has been postponed until Tuesday.
Two jury members left the Miami-Dade courthouse Monday afternoon asking to be excused. Two alternate jurors will have to be selected by Tuesday morning to allow attorneys to make their opening statements.
Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Leon Firtel told the remaining 12 jurors to avoid reading media reports on the other trial in Sanford, Fla., warning them that Palacios trial was not about stand your ground.
Palacio, 46, is on trial for first-degree murder. Among the witnesses testifying will be the 10-year-old twins of his and ex-wife Jennifer Winter. The twins witnessed the killing.
