Another piece of Miami Beach/Lincoln Road history bites the dust — after 19 years of cortaditos, café con leches, coladas, tostadas, media noches, frijoles negros, sopa de pollo
and so much more, David’s on Meridian Avenue is closing.
Forced out by an almost 70-percent increase in rent, it no longer can afford to serve the community that has loved and supported it through the years. Locals, tourists, conventioneers, office workers and police officers all were welcome visitors to the little window and inside the restaurant.
Will the cafecito
lovers among us now be forced to cross the street to Starbucks and support a Seattle based mega-corporation instead of a locally owned business that was part of the soul of this part of South Beach? Probably.
David’s, you will be missed. We are so sad to see you go. Peggi McKinley, Miami
