Feds want back $6M in hurricane relief aid

 

Miramar has joined the roster of municipalities who may have to repay millions in Wilma funds to FEMA after federal audits found questionable expenditures.

Miramar could have to repay millions of dollars in federal disaster recovery funds from Hurricane Wilma, making it next in the line of local governments under question.

FEMA asked the city to reimburse about $6 million of the $16.5 million it received for damages from the 2005 hurricane. The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General also released audits for Coral Springs and Pompano Beach.
