“I recently re-read one of my all-time favorite books, Killer Angels by the late Jeff Shaara; it was made into the movie Gettysburg, which, I believe, sadly premiered after his death. It’s about the battle of Gettysburg and so much more. His history is the kind all kids should get in school: it’s about people, thoughts and ideas, the incredible bonds of friendship and the horror of being torn apart in devastating war. … Personalities come alive, and you can’t help but feel the agony of these men, applaud their heroics and come to love so many of them, no matter what side they were fighting on. … I also read Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. Loved the author’s use of history as well. It’s true that many believe Lincoln was larger than life and didn’t need to be a vampire hunter. But the book is very well-researched and lots of fun.”
