Police believe man struck by Tri-Rail train killed his girlfriend hours earlier

Palm Beach Post

The 20-year-old woman found dead early Thursday in Boynton Beach was allegedly killed by her boyfriend who committed suicide by jumping in front of a Tri-Rail train in Boca Raton hours later, Boynton Beach police say.

The woman was identified by police as Marcline Demosthene, 20. An official cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner, but it does not appear that Demosthene was shot or stabbed, Boynton Beach Officer Jaclyn Smith said in a statement.

Demosthene was found dead in a bedroom in a house in the 700 block of Northwest Eighth Street around 1:15 a.m. Thursday. She was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, 35-year-old Steverson Altidor. The two lived together at the house. Altidor fled the scene when police arrived to investigate Demosthene’s death.

Altidor was killed about 6:10 a.m. Thursday in the area of Spanish River Boulevard and Interstate 95 just south of the Boca Raton Tri-Rail station.

Investigators believe Altidor was intent on suicide.
