Young Zoo Miami visitor has close encounter with lion

Seven-year-old Alex Hawker was more than surprised when his father was taking a picture of him in front of the viewing glass at the lions cage at Zoo Miami on Wednesday, June 27. Dad Sean Hawker had posed his son in front of 'Asha,' a 3-year-old African lioness, who was lying down 10-feet or so in the background. As Hawker was lining up the shot, the lion jumped to its paws and lunged up against the glass. Young Alex froze upon hearing the collision against the glass, not knowing what was going on. The Hawkers, who live in Ft. Myers, were visiting in Miami.
