Fourth of July specials

 

South Florida restaurants invite you to feast on the Fourth. Here are some of the Independence Day deals available on the Fourth of July. Check miami.com for updates:

Bianca at Delano, 1685 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, is doing barbecued ribs, lobster, oysters, white truffle ice cream, live music and kid-friendly activities from 4 to 10 p.m. for $75; 305-674-5752

The Biltmore Hotel, 1200 Anastasia Ave., Coral Gables, hosts an all-American cookout from 4 to 9:45 p.m. capped by fireworks for $115 ($40 for kids); 305-913-3246.

GG’s Waterfront Bar & Grill, 606 N. Ocean Dr., Hollywood, celebrates with an all-day happy hour on Wednesday. From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., enjoy $6.50 martinis, $2.50-$3 beers and $6-$7 appetizers; 954-929-7030.

The Mayfair Hotel, 3000 Florida Ave., Coconut Grove, celebrates poolside with a rooftop barbecue and make-your-own Cobb salad station for $18.95 ($12.50 for kids); 305-441-0000.

The Rusty Pelican, 3201 Rickenbacker Cswy., Key Biscayne, presents a barbecue buffet for $65 ($25 for kids); 305-361-3818.

And in the feeding-others department, Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino, 901 S. Federal Hwy., Hallandale Beach, hosts a Fourth of July food drive benefiting Feeding South Florida. Folks who donate nonperishable food items beginning at 4 p.m. will be entered in a drawing for $500 that takes place after the 9 p.m. fireworks.

    ’Check, Please!’ returns Monday

    Check, Please! South Florida, the WPBT-PBS2 dining show hosted by chef Michelle Bernstein, kicks off its 10th season at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Here are the restaurants Bernstein and her citizen-critics will review:

  • De Rodriguez, Tuyo on ‘hot spot’ list

    Miami Beach’s De Rodriguez Cuba on Ocean and Miami’s Tuyo made Gayot’s 2013 list of Top 40 Hot Spots; gayot.com.

  • Raise a glass at Gables Museum, Gotham Steak, Steak 954

    The Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables, celebrates the 500th anniversary of Ponce de Leon’s Florida encounter with a presentation on the history, culture and architecture of Granada accompanied by “a generous sampling” of Spanish wines. Tickets are $30 at 305-603-8067.
