Last week, five University of Miami teams earned NCAA Public Recognition Awards for Academic Progress Rate scores that were among the top-10 percent in their sport nationally.
Today the NCAA announced the full APR scores for every institution and the University of Miami was once again among the most accomplished programs.
APR Accomplishments:
• UM, Northwestern and Duke are the only three BCS schools to record an APR score of 980 or better in football, men’s basketball and baseball.
• The men’s basketball team recorded a score of 980.
• The baseball program earned a perfect score of 1,000.
• In football, UM posted a 980 score.
• Since 2004-05, men’s basketball, football and baseball have increased their APR scores every year. Men’s basketball began at 929 in 2004-05 and is now at 980. Football began at 956 seven years ago and is now at 980. Baseball was at 929 in 2004-05 and had a perfect score of 1,000 this year.
• Men’s diving, women’s cross country and women’s golf joined the baseball team with perfect scores of 1,000.
• Ten of Miami’s 18 programs scored 980 or better out of a possible 1,000 points.
• Nine UM teams — baseball, men’s basketball, football, men’s diving, men’s tennis, men’s indoor track and field, women’s cross country, women’s golf and volleyball — have a 70th percentile or higher national rank within their sports.
