I noted with sadness the passing of Dr. Robert Simpson, retired dean of the School of Education at the University of Miami.

In the 1970s, Simpson was at the forefront of the efforts to desegregate South Florida’s public schools. He led the South Florida Desegregation Center and contributed significantly to the creation of an integrated school district. His positive contributions and impact on our community showed real courage and shouldn’t go unnoticed.
