I am grateful for Daniel Shoer Roth’s honesty (The bullies lost — thanks to my inner strength, June, 10.) I live these stories every day. There is a crushing need to make sure our children are safe.
I am a public school middle school counselor, a bullying prevention program trainer, a workplace bullying prevention trainer — and a mom of two middle school children.
I know that only through effective leadership in all of our schools will we ever have a chance to end bullying.
When we prevent bullying, we promote all the stuff we want for our children — for all of us, really: honesty, integrity, courage, patience, empathy. That’s the real work of bullying prevention, and we are not there by a long shot.
I have come to know with great clarity that we will never keep children safe from bullying without effective, knowledgeable and courageous leadership. And as I said — we are not there by a long shot.
