Who would want a corporate CEO for our president? Corporations exist to maximize profits and governments exist to protect their citizens.
Corporate culture affects us every day as we contend with shoddy merchandise and poor service from underpaid and overworked employees. Cutting corners to maximize profit has brought us cars that explode on impact, tainted meat, massive oil spills, robo-signed foreclosures and ineffective body armor for our troops, among other things.
The only thing between us and the relentless drive of corporations for profit is the “burdensome government regulation” decried by conservatives. The General Services Administration scandal shows what happens when a corporate culture of junkets and bonuses infiltrates the public sector. We don’t need our government to be a wholly owned subsidiary of corporate America.
