It’s troubling that the media report and the general public accepts without question White House claims of killing suspected military combatants with drone air strikes.
Who are these suspected military combatants, why are they classified as suspect and is it legal to assassinate someone suspected and not proven to be a combatant?
It turns out, according to The New York Times, that the White House counts all military-age males in a strike zone as combatants.
As with the Vietnam War this methodology is immoral and problematic because not only were innocents killed and then labeled Viet Cong, but it gives Americans this false sense of accomplishment of an unwinnable war.
The American people should be outraged that these murders are being committed in our name.
