Fisher Island Club CEO is out; replacement named

Fisher Island’s country club has parted ways with its chief executive officer, Larry Brown, after a four-year run at the famed resort.

Bernard Lackner, formerly of Hotel Plaza-Athénée New York, will take Brown’s place by month’s end.

Fisher Island resident and board member Jose Valdes-Fauli confirmed the move to The Miami Herald, but declined to say why Brown’s contract was not renewed. Club chief financial officer Scott Barter is the acting CEO until Lackner takes over. The change comes just weeks after a blistering travel review of the resort appeared in The New York Times, accusing the pricey hotel of poor service.

Lackner has worked in hospitality since 1977, serving the last 20 years as Hotel Plaza-Athénée’s general manager, according to his online resume.
