This 2009 portrait of the alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed turned up on an "Al-Ebdaa Media" website recently, reforcing attention on the International Red Cross program that made pictures of Guantanamo detainees for their family. The Red Cross says all the images were made, and released, in collaboration with the U.S. military and given to the captives' families. "The photographs taken by the ICRC at Guantanamo Bay are not meant to be used in the public realms. However, the ICRC is not in a position to control their usage after they have been received by the families of the detainees," said Red Cross spokesman Simon Schorno in Washington D.C.

The International Committee of the Red Cross delivered this photo of Ahmed Darbi's children, sent by his wife from her native Yemen, to the long-held Saudi captive. Darbi's son was born after his father's capture and had never seen him.
