DJ Laz’s replacement at Power 96: JP

The show must go on — and it has. DJ Laz, who left his longtime gig at Power 96 to pursue a radio career in L.A., has been replaced.

Miami, welcome the newest voice in the morning crew: JP, full name: Yojhans Perez. He used to do nights at the station, so this waking up early thing is an adjustment. “I used to go bed at 4 a.m., now I wake up at 4 a.m.,’’ says the Cuban native who grew up in South Beach and graduated from Miami Beach Senior High, Class of ’96.

Luckily, JP has no issues with Mr. Sandman: “I’m a morning person. I feel like you can accomplish so much in your day if you are up early.”

The drive-time funfest, airing from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., still has mainstay hosts Afrika and The Big Lip Bandit. But the chemistry is different now: “I think the three of us bring something unique to the table. Afrika is smart, refined and keeps us in check, Big Lip is just straight-up funny and always has a one-liner ready to go,’’ says JP. “I tie it all together with my humor, home-team advantage and Hispanic perspective. We are a melting-pot morning show, and we represent Miami 100 percent.’’

Adds Big Lip: “We’re like Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates — you never know what you’re going to get. We are going to dish the dirt on the celebs, prank call you and even help you bust your man or woman cheating. It’s drama for your momma every day!’’

One issue: the team still doesn’t have a name for their show. Send your suggestions to www.power96.com.

Real Housewives of Miami’s Alexia Echeverria popped up at the H&M Pop Up Shop on Meridian Avenue Thursday. The Bravo star was pumped to shop. “I think it’s a great thing for us because H&M is trendy, hot, tropical, colorful and the price point is perfect.” As for what to expect from Season 2 of her reality show, the Venue editrex adds, “A lot more excitement, drama, fun and a lot more of what Miami’s about.’’ See more in Business.

Stevie Wonder sings at his own birthday bash

Stevie Wonder celebrated his 63rd birthday a week after the big day (May 13) with a private concert for almost 700 high rollers, VIP guests and media types Tuesday night at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The legendary Wonder performed for well over two hours, singing covers by The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Bob Marley as well as his own greatest hits. Wonder also invited some of the audience, this writer included, to audition for him on his hit, Part Time Lover. While he told us we were better than the previous, uh, contestant, we’ll be keeping the full time day job.

    Amanda Bynes: hot mess extraordinaire

The term “hot mess” doesn’t come close to describing Amanda Bynes. The troubled actress appeared disheveled in a long blond wig and sweats Friday in a criminal court where she was charged with reckless endangerment. She was also charged with attempted tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of marijuana, all misdemeanors.
