The Catholic Bishops Conference says that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is attacking religion by requiring businesses run by Catholics to obey American laws.
No one in the Obama administration is attacking religion or religious liberty. Running a hospital is a secular business operation. When members of the Catholic denomination operate a secular business that sells its wares to anyone that can pay for them, it absolutely must obey the laws that apply universally to all businesses. How can anyone think otherwise?
It would be an attack on religious liberty if the government told Catholic clergy they cannot preach in church against contraception. However, there is no such rule.
On issues such as contraception, the only folks who want to destroy religious liberty are the Roman Catholic clergy.
