Moments after Dolphins coach Joe Philbin announced the team would appear on HBO’s Hard Knocks, he deflected a question on the whereabouts of the Dolphins roster’s biggest celebrity, running back Reggie Bush.
Bush was absent from Tuesday’s organized team activity workout. So was quarterback David Garrard, but he was dealing with tropical storm damage to his Jacksonville home.
Asked about Bush, Philbin said, “I don’t want to comment, I will talk about anyone who was here and what they did, but I am not going to talk about guys who were not here.”
According to Bush’s Twitter account, he spent Memorial Day Weekend in Las Vegas. His last tweet Monday, from 8:08 p.m.: “Vegas is the devil! lol”
Attempts to reach Bush’s agent throughout Tuesday failed.
Marshall leaves
Cornerback Richard Marshall left the field with a cranium-sized bag of ice on his groin after going down during a drill. Marshall limped to the sideline without bending his left leg. He said after practice he had never had a groin problem.
At about the same time, linebacker Shelly Lyons also took to the sideline with a groin-thigh issue.
On the side
Working on the side during 7-on-7, individual and team drills were cornerback Vontae Davis; undrafted free agent running back Jonas Gray and guard Ray Feinga.
Martin signs
The Dolphins announced the previously reported signing of their second-round pick, Stanford offensive tackle Jonathan Martin.
