Dadeland Mall is getting a makeover, designed to create a new dining destination overlooking bustling Kendall Drive.

Demolition is set to begin next week on the former Limited/Express building to make way for construction of the new “Kendall Wing.” Expected to open in Spring 2013, the new two-story building would include restaurants on the second floor with patios and retail shops on the ground floor, according to a news release from the mall’s co-owner Simon Property Group.

A spokeswoman for Simon Property declined to answer questions regarding details about the renovation, including the amount it will cost and names of any new tenants.

“Interest is very strong and we already have commitments for most of the space which we plan to announce in the near future,” Dadeland manager Maria Prado said in a press release.

The renovation also includes the addition of 300 new spaces to Dadeland’s existing parking deck. The two new levels are expected to be ready this summer.
