LAKELAND -- Coral Springs Charter (23-7) lost the FHSAA Class 4A semifinal game 53-51 to Dunbar (28-1) on Wednesday night at the Lakeland Center.
Coach Fitzroy Anthony, who closed out his second season with the Panthers, saw his young squad make a valiant effort and almost pull off a close battle with the Tigers.
“Their [the Panthers’] mind was on winning a championship,” Anthony, who doesn’t have a senior on his team and brought eight players to Lakeland, said. “All of ‘em wanted to win. You can want to win but have to learn how to win first.”
Aisha Edwards paced the Panthers with 22 points and five assists. Emily Williams had 15 points and Celia Wojcik picked up eight boards for Coral Springs Charter.

Dillard
Having too many good options to choose from is a problem that Dillard girls basketball coach Marcia Pinder welcomes.
Arguably one of the deepest teams in the state this year, the Panthers are back in Lakeland and preparing for its Class 5A state semifinal showdown with St. Petersburg Lakewood Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Lakeland Center.
Having a team with 10 equally talented girls, all capable of carrying the load, has made staying in Pinder’s starting lineup a very tough task.
