West Miami thief flees with thousands in cash

A thief stole $14,000 from a woman’s purse in the 1500 block of Southwest 65th Place about 11:30 a.m. Feb. 9. The thief then boarded a Greyhound bus and fled to New York, according to police.

MIAMI SPRINGS

A thief stole a metal wire container, threw it into a trash can and set it ablaze next to a car parked at a restaurant in the first block of Canal Street about 1 p.m. Jan. 30. The stolen item was valued at $200.

One or more vandals damaged several components of the city’s gazebo located on Curtiss Circle between 9:45 a.m. Feb. 2 and 7:30 a.m. Feb. 3. A wooden spindle was broken, an irrigation time clock was pulled, a finial ball was removed from its post and a wooden plank from the floorboard was broken. Damage was estimated at $61.
