Police arrest burglar locked in car in Beach

A man broke into a car about 9:20 a.m. Feb. 11 in the 1600 block of Michigan Avenue. When police arrived, the man was still in the car and ordered him to exit. The thief said he was unable to because the driver-side door was locked and he couldn’t unlock it. The man then exited from the passenger door. The thief was charged with automobile burglary.

MIAMI BEACH

Police suspect a man stole a car because he did not return it to the rental-car company located in the 1600 block of Collins Avenue. The theft was reported about 12:40 p.m. Feb. 11.

A thief stole a Toshiba laptop computer between 1:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Feb. 11 in the 2600 block of Collins Avenue.

A thief stole clothes valued at $675 from a store in the 1600 block of Meridian Avenue about 1:45 p.m. Feb. 11. The thief was later caught and arrested.

A thief stole a motorcycle tag about midnight Feb. 7 in the 900 block of West Avenue.

SURFSIDE

Police suspect a California man fraudulently leased a Surfside home in the 9500 block of Byron Avenue to a tourist for $3, 400 between Jan. 13 and Jan. 22. The home turned out to be occupied and not for rent.

Thieves stole cash and an ID from a man waiting for the bus about 9 p.m. Jan. 25 in the 9100 block of Harding Avenue.

BISCAYNE PARK

A thief stole a blue mountain bike between 10:30 a.m. Feb. 8 and 7:30 a.m. Feb. 10 in the 10900 block of Northeast Ninth Court.

SUNNY ISLES BEACH

Police believe a woman stole a car she had rented between Nov. 3 and Feb. 2 in the 18100 block of Collins Avenue.

A thief stole a cellphone between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Feb. 3 in the 200 block of 174th Street.

A thief stole three sea scooters about 5:15 p.m. Feb. 4 from the 400 block of Sunny Isles Boulevard.

NORTH MIAMI BEACH

A thief stole a 2000 Chevrolet Tracker between 9:15 p.m. Feb. 8 and 10:30 a.m. Feb. 9 in the 16400 block of Miami Drive.

A thief smashed the passenger window of a car about 10:10 p.m. Feb. 12 in the 16700 block of Northwest Fifth Avenue.

EL PORTAL

A burglar broke a church’s window about 3 a.m. Feb. 7 in the 8600 block of Northeast Second Avenue.

AVENTURA

A woman used a handicapped-parking placard that did not belong to her about 8:20 p.m. Feb. 9 in the 21200 block of Biscayne Boulevard.
