A new initiative by Miami-Dade Commissioner Jose Pepe Diaz will mean freebies for some commuters on Friday.
The first recipients of Diazs 14 Days of Neighborly Love Inspiring Random Acts of Kindness will be motorists passing through a Dolphin Expressway toll plaza.
The first 1,000 motorists passing the 97th Avenue toll plaza on SR 836/Dolphin Expressway will receive a free SunPass Mini and voucher to activate a new account with $15 worth of credits, courtesy of the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX).
The giveaway will be between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Handing out the vouchers will be Diaz and MDX Chair Felix Lasarte and Executive Director Javier Rodriguez.
The initiative, inspired in part by Valentines Day, involves businesses and organizations donating their time and services from Feb. 14 through Monday to residents as a way of showing love for their neighbors and community.
MDX is one of the many organizations taking part in ther giveaways.
