UM students camp out overnight for Obama tickets

Up to a thousand University of Miami students camped out overnight in Coral Gables for the must see event of the year, not a music concert, but a chance to see President Barack Obama speak on campus on Thursday.

Students started to line-up Tuesday evening in order for a chance to get tickets to see Obama’s speech at UM’s BankUnted Center Fieldhouse.

The tickets will be distributed at 8:30 a.m.

At the event, Obama is expected to discuss plans to shore up the economy.

After the UM speech, Obama will attend a fundraising reception at the Biltmore Hotel and at the Coral Gables home of lawyer Chris Korge, a top fundraiser for Hillary Rodham Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. After that, Air Force One will ferry him to Orlando for a $30,000-per-person fundraising dinner at the home of NBA star Vince Carter.
