Do you pray for a moratorium on Jeremy Lin-based wordplay? Feel like the only person in your circle who doesnt buy into the excitement about the New York Knicks point guard?
Then this story isnt for you.
Because, if ticket prices are any indication, Lin frenzy has arrived in South Florida.
An analysis of prices, done by online event ticket aggregator TiqIQ, measured the difference between the average price of a ticket to a Miami Heat home game and the average for a ticket to the home game this week versus the New York Knicks.
The difference? A jump of nearly $300.
TiqIQ collects data from different ticket sellers to help consumers compare prices before buying. Their numbers show a typical Heat game ticket will set you back $218.54. Getting into the Feb. 23 Knicks game in Miami will cost you more than twice that $510.06.
And if $510 seems pricey, dont even think about getting premium seats. Sitting courtside, TiqIQ said, will set you back about $9,400.
Of course, there could be other factors besides love for Lin driving up prices. Maybe its the Heats strong performance or South Floridas fabulous February weather.
But consider the cost of getting into the same game two weeks ago, according to TiqIQ, before the Knicks second-year player started getting major playing time.
If only you had bought then. On Feb. 7. the average ticket to the game cost $220.23.
