Yes, people are getting promoted in this economy. Alexis Rivera has been named co-anchor of WSVN’s Today in Florida. Rivera joined the station in April 2011 as a general assignment reporter and later a fill-in anchor for the 5-10 a.m. newscast Monday-Friday. The South Florida native, with a master’s in Broadcast Journalism from UM, starts April 30, replacing Richard Lemus who is leaving to “pursue other interests.’’
The last time Kathy Griffin played South Florida, she stayed on Star Island with pal Gloria Estefan, who dared the bawdy comedienne to toss her bikini top.
