Despite circling overhead in a helicopter, closing a street to traffic and trying to negotiate through a bullhorn, Miami-Dade police were not able to take into custody a man who had barricaded himself inside a West Kendall home on Monday.

Shortly before 5 pm Monday, a police helicopter circled over the home in the 16200 block of Southwest 95th Lane and police officers wearing bulletproof vests and holding rifles had closed Southwest 96th Street from 167th to 162nd avenues to motorists.

But, despite several hours of this and trying to negotiate with the unidentified man through the use of a bullhorn, the man escaped through the backyard and got away. The initial call was a violent dispute, but there has been no other information given on the case.
