Led by LeBron James’ 28 points, the Heat posted its fifth blowout victory in a row on the road. “We definitely feel like we're clicking,” Dwyane Wade said.

LeBron James might end up in a Cavaliers jersey again some day. But he wasn't wearing one Friday.

Led by James, Cleveland's former two-time MVP who was booed loudly upon introduction and for most of the game whenever the ball was in his hands, the Heat built a 34-point by the third quarter and capped its season-long, six-game road trip with its fifth consecutive double-digit victory, 111-87, at Quicken Loans Arena.

James finished with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and sat quietly alongside Dwyane Wade for all of the fourth quarter. The Heat (24-7) return home to face Orlando at 3:30 p.m. Sunday on ABC. The Magic beat the Heat to open the road trip.

“Our guys were looking forward to this nine-day road trip as an opportunity to grow. We took a step forward in the last five games,” said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, whose team has won its last five games by a combined 94 points.

“While we were winning before this road trip we weren't necessarily playing to our top potential and not necessarily taking big steps forward to improve. But I think this trip we did improve. The guys feel it. It's tangible in that locker room.”

Wade scored 18 of his 22 points in the first half, and made his first three-pointer of the season as the Heat built a 63-38 halftime lead.

Chris Bosh added 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Mario Chalmers warmed up for All-Star weekend's three-point shootout by hitting four of six long-distance shots. He finished with 14 points and five assists.

The Heat made 14 of its 21 three-point attempts and held Cleveland to 39.5 percent shooting from the field.

“We definitely feel like we're clicking,” Wade said. “This is the best defense we've played since last year.”

A COUPLE MILESTONES

The win sweeps the season series for the Heat against the Cavs 3-0 and improves the franchise's overall record to 943-942 – the first time Miami has been over .500.

Much like it did Tuesday in Indiana, the Heat jumped all over the Cavs in the first quarter. Behind six quick points from Bosh, the Heat built a 9-0 lead before Cavs coach Byron Scott called a timeout.

The break did little to stop the Heat's momentum. Miami's lead expanded to 21-2 before Omri Casspi hit a three-pointer to end the run. Wade finished with 11 points in the quarter for the Heat, which collected 11 assists as a team and led 35-14 at the end of the period.

James eventually stretched the lead to 83-49 with a personal 5-0 run that feature a baseline drive and dunk and a fadeaway three-pointer.

Cleveland fans finally got a chance to taunt him later in the quarter when he air-balled a three-pointer. But it was their only highlight of the night.

DAMAGE CONTROL

James’ low-key exit from Cleveland on Friday night paled in comparison to his arrival.

Thursday, he raised the eyebrows of his current and former teams when he said “it would be great, fun to play in front of these fans again” and wouldn't rule out a return one day. Friday, James tried to clarify his comments by saying he was squarely focused on winning a championship with the Heat.

Asked if he's playing the best stretch of his career, James said: “I think I would agree – just looking at the numbers and how I feel. I'm very confident. I've always been a confident guy even in my MVP seasons I had here. I played some good basketball. But I haven't shot as many threes, even though I took five tonight. Most of my damage is done in the paint or in the post. I'm shooting at a high clip right now.”

Is this the best the Heat has played since the Big 3 was put together?

"This year for sure,” James said. “We had some really good stretches last year. We had stretches where we were up and really low. We won 22 out of 23, seven out of eight. This year, this is the most consistent we've been since we've been together playing basketball.”
