Miami Beach towing fees won’t rise — just yet, anyway

Miami Beach’s two towing companies, Beach Towing and Tremont Towing, won’t get a towing rate increase. At least not for the next four months.

Commissioners deferred a vote Wednesday on a new, three-year contract for the city’s only towing companies that would have increased the average tow fee from $205 to $269 during the length of the deal.

The two companies, which have exclusive rights on tows for police and parking officers and private businesses and residences, say they are losing money, or breaking even at best, and need the increase to stay afloat.

Commissioners agreed to discuss the new contracts at a commission finance committee meeting before the commission’s June meeting.
