The Jan. 31 letter Union protects incompetent teachers says that, “Competent teachers do not need to be protected because they do their job.”
The writer’s logic? Good teachers need no protections, so do away with unions.
The inability of so many Americans to think critically and understand the sometimes-subtle ideas of American law and the Constitution are at the root of the polarization and political deadlock that cripple government today. The writer was expressing a simple idea about a complex problem.
