Insensitive leader

 

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus’ comment comparing President Obama to the Italian ship captain is the most offensive political comment I’ve heard this year. I wouldn’t be shocked hearing this from some tea party radical, but there should be more respect for the office, despite what he thinks of the president. His statement was the moral equivalent of burning the U.S. flag. I cannot believe he was chosen to lead our party.

I am a lifelong Republican who is beginning to feel like there is no place in the Republican Party for anybody but the most extreme of the right wing.

  • We’re overbuilt

    Re the May 22 letter The goal: more water conservation: You cannot tell existing homeowners to limit water-sprinkler use while building more homes, each having showers, dishwashers, sprinklers, etc.
