Re the Jan. 29 article Gay Republicans fight for respect: Michael Emanuel Rajner’s critical comments about gay Republicans are a stunning example of a voter’s broad-based ignorance. When we cast our ballot in support of a candidate or elect to be a party member, it should be based on a broad set of issues. American voters very often vote for a candidate or are a member of a party based on one issue. This misguided view places America in continuing crisis because faulty platforms are ignored.
Most voters, I hope, decide on the nation’s best interests overall.
