Do some research

 

Citizens Insurance has sent letters to policy holders regarding a mandatory inspection of their home. The tone was nasty with a threat that if I didn’t allow the inspection, my rate would go up. I was forced into Citizens when State Farm, my insurer for 40 years, cancelled my policy.

In exasperation I went to AAA and was able to get both an auto and home policy. The rate was a bit higher, but the coverage much better so I was very satisfied. There’s no price on peace of mind. Don’t let Citizens intimidate you. There are other insurers out there, you just have to do your homework.

    Re the May 22 letter The goal: more water conservation: You cannot tell existing homeowners to limit water-sprinkler use while building more homes, each having showers, dishwashers, sprinklers, etc.
