Bacardi ads — a sign of the times

Bacardi’s advertising has reflected popular culture and current events. Here’s a sampling of the company’s iconic marketing.

At top, the current campaign, “Bacardi Party Circa 1957,” features an ad that pays homage to the company’s past, its classic cocktails and the Bacardi tradition of starting parties for the past 150 years. From left, the 1930s ad reads: “Always Imitated, Never Equaled” in response to bootlegging of counterfeit Bacardi sold during prohibition. The 1949 ad featuring a Rumbera was emblematic of Cuba and Bacardi. The award-winning 1973 ad was recognized for its social responsibility message: many things mix well with Bacardi — except driving.
