Hispanic Chamber endorses casino resorts

The South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announced conditional support of bringing casino resorts to Miami-Dade County.

The business group’s official position touts the proposed resorts as boosts to the economy. But, similar to the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s position, the Hispanic group tied its support to local hiring and a requirement that local governments receive a portion of gambling taxes from the new facilities.

Bills under consideration in Tallahassee that would legalize the casino resorts do not include local gambling taxes.
