A North Miami man is under arrest after he beat his 4-month-old son so severely that the doctors have declared the child brain dead, police said.

A judge on Friday ordered a $200,000 bond for Yosi Mahlab, 30, who is facing a charge of aggravated child abuse. Mahlab will likely be charged with murder if Javon, the baby, dies from his injuries.

Mahlab was trying to feed the baby at his apartment on the 600 block of Northeast 123rd Street

According to an arrest report, Mahlab admitted to detectives that he slapped the baby twice, causing the infant to fall from his lap and hit his head on a nightstand.

X-rays taken at Jackson Memorial Hospital determined that baby suffered a skull fracture and bleeding in the brain, according to the police report.
