Kuznetsova-Zvonareva win Aussie doubles title

Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva bested Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci to win the Australian Open women's doubles title on Friday.

The unseeded Russian duo of Kuznetsova and Zvonareva earned a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 victory over the 11th-seeded Italian tandem, capturing their first Grand Slam title as doubles partners.

The two-time Grand Slam singles champion Kuznetsova was an Aussie Open doubles champion in 2005 and runner-up in 2004. The former Wimbledon and U.S. Open singles runner-up Zvonareva is a former U.S. Open doubles champ.

Errani was a singles quarterfinal loser in Melbourne on Wednesday.

Kuznetsova and Zvonareva each earned $237,500 for the victory.
