A man with a gunshot wound was found in a Medley canal Wednesday morning.
The man was found just before 1 a.m. near the intersection of Northwest 116th Way and North Okeechobee Road.
He was discovered by Medley police officers who stopped when they saw the injured man’s gold pickup truck next to the guard rail.
The truck was empty. Officers did not find a gun and they don’t suspect he was shot in the pickup because they didn’t find blood inside, Medley police spokesman Lt. Jack Young said.
The driver door was open, car lights on and the truck was still in drive, he said.
Officers found the unconscious man about 20 feet away, his legs in the water, a gunshot wound on his chest.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took the man to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital where he is in stable condition, Young said.
