After criss-crossing the state, the top two Republican presidential candidates will be in Miami-Dade and Broward on Wednesday attending several campaign events.
In an effort to appeal to the area’s large Hispanic population, Newt Gingrich will take part in a 9 a.m. U.S. Hispanic Chamber/Univision candidate forum taping at Univision Network Studio in Doral.
Univision journalist Jorge Ramos will question Gingrich — and later in the day Romney — on jobs, the economy, health care and immigration and international issues.
The audience will be comprised of Hispanic business leaders and members of chamber members, as well as members of the community.
After his appearance at the network, Gingrich will make a 10 a.m. speech on his Latin America policy at Florida International University, Wertheim Performing Arts Center, Maidique campus, at 11200 SW Eighth St.
Gingrich then heads to Broward for a noontime Grassroots Meet & Greet at Wings Plus Restaurant, 9880 W. Sample Rd., a traditional politico stop in Coral Springs.
At 2:15 p.m. in Miami, Romney will tape his segment in the Univision candidates forum at Miami-Dade College Wolfson campus, Rm.1261,
300 NE Second Ave.
Univision will broadcast the forum on their public affairs show, Al Punto, at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Then at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, in probably the most scenic campaign stop of the day, Romney will be at the Freedom Tower in downtown Miami to talk about his Cuba policy. The building is a nostalgic symbol of freedom for thousands of Cuban-Americans who were processed inside the historic building starting in the early 1960s.
The Miami Herald will have reporters tweeting and filing stories from all campaign stops. Follow us on Twitter @MiamiHerald or at MiamiHerald.com
