If you’re going to be in Charleston next weekend, go hungry: About 65,000 pounds of oysters are due in town for the 29th annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival. Hailed as the “World’s Largest Oyster Festival,” and named one of the “Top 20 Events in the Southeast” by the Southeastern Tourism Society for 20 consecutive years, the event takes place Jan. 29 on the lawn of historic Boone Hall Plantation. Highlights include the legendary “Oyster Shucking & Eating Contest,” live music on the Main Stage and a selection of imported and domestic beers. Children will have a Kids Corner just for them with pony rides and plenty of games and activities.
