The Papaya Playa Project, a pop-up hotel in Tulum on the Mayan Riviera, opened last month and will operate through early May. The hotel, a conversion of an existing unoccupied resort on a mile-long stretch of beach, includes 99 rustinc cabanas, most with private bathrooms but some with shared facilities. Facilities include a spa. beachside restaurant a bar, and a mini-boutique. Rates range from $25 in the most modest accommodations to $675 for a five-bedroom house.
