It is impossible for any of us to ignore the financial challenges of the last several years impacting business, governments and families. Yet when we kicked off the short fund-raising event to assist the village of Miami Shores with the replacement cost of a new police dog, so many of us willingly gave. Contributors included people from other states and counties, another neighboring city, and most of all the residents of Miami Shores.

Although we did not cover the full amount needed we came close enough (over $6,000) to enable the city to budget funds and escalate the purchase of a new dog.

I want to thank all of my Miami Shores neighbors, the several schools who supported the cause, St. Rose, Country Day and Doctors Charter, the Miami Shores Chamber and the efforts of Mr. Walters, Councilmen Al Davis and Steve Loffredo.

I especially want to thank some of the greatest kids in the world who sold lemonade and cookies street side and gave out fliers at the Rec field and Publix. They are: Sophia P., Brigid, Paola, Sophia and Olivia K, Abbey, Madeline, Juliette, Nick, Katy, and Ethan! And most of all a sincere thanks to Officer Leeann Jonchuck from the village police department for letting us do this and helping us along the way.

Thank you all!

Dr. Johnathan Rose
