DirecTV viewers might miss NFL playoff games if no agreement is reached

bjackson@miamiherald.com

DirecTV subscribers will not be able to watch the Saints-49ers and Giants-Packers playoff games this weekend if the satellite provider and WSVN-Fox 7 are unable to agree on retransmission fees. DirecTV will drop WSVN, at least temporarily, if no deal is reached by midnight Friday.

At issue is how much DirecTV must pay Sunbeam TV, which owns Channel 7 and two stations in Boston.

“As of now, it appears WSVN-TV Channel 7 won’t be carried by DirecTV after Jan. 13,” the station said on its newscasts Thursday. DirecTV customers can still get Channel 7 by disconnecting their DirecTV and using an antenna on their TV, or by switching to a cable provider.
