WWE’s John Cena teams with Fruity Pebbles for great causes

If you can be them, join them; Win a chance to meet John Cena

Ever since The Rock mocked WWE superstar John Cena (and his colorful T-shirts) by comparing him to a box of Fruity Pebbles, the WWE Universe went strong with it.

The fans chanted “Fruity Pebbles” during Cena’s interviews; they made signs to show the world on WWE Raw and also took to photo shop in social media creating some interesting visuals. What started as a hee-hee, haw-haw plug is becoming an outlet to help two worthy causes.

Post Fruity Pebbles and Cena are now teaming for a new partnership, which includes a collectable cereal box and an instant-win promotion awarding a VIP meet-and-greet with the hard-working talent.

Cena’s passion charity, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, for which he has granted more than 250 wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions, and ‘be a STAR,’ the anti-bullying alliance co-founded by WWE and The Creative Coalition, are prominently displayed on newly-designed Fruity Pebbles cereal boxes featured nationwide January through March.

“It is truly an honor to team up with Post Fruity Pebbles,” Cena said in a release. “After all, who doesn’t dream of being on a cereal box one day?

“I am proud that the partnership also spreads awareness about the life-changing wishes granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation and ‘be a STAR’s’ anti-bullying message of showing tolerance and respect.”

Michael Krishnan, Senior Brand Manager at Post Foods, said: “We are thrilled to support John Cena’s work in and out of the ring for children with life-threatening medical conditions and those who are being bullied. We hope Fruity Pebbles’ partnership with this popular WWE superstar will raise awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and ‘be a STAR’.”

The on-pack instant win grand prize winners will each receive a VIP meet-and-greet with Cena, priority seating and transportation to a WWE live event, and an autographed “Rise Above Hate” T-shirt, in support of the ‘be a STAR’ anti-bullying message.

First prize winners will receive an autographed version of the exclusive T-shirt. The second prize winners will receive the exclusive T-shirt. To enter, look inside the specially marked boxes featuring Cena for a special code to submit on PebblesPlay.com/Cena.

• The partnership stems from the onscreen and social media rivalry between Cena and WrestleMania 28 Maimi opponent Dwayne The Rock Johnson, who compared Cena’s brightly colored wardrobe to a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. Cena embraced the new nickname, saying he is “Yabba Dabba Delicious.”

Post happened to label its boxes with Fred Flintstone saying, “Rocks Your Mouth,” ironically. More irony, The Rock dressed up as Fred Flintstone for Halloween many moons ago.

• WWE WrestleMania 28 Miami is April 1 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens. Miami has already established on-sale records for number of tickets sold and gross amount.

• WWE Hall of Fame tickets go on sale Saturday, Jan. 14. The WWE Hall of Fame will be at the AmericanAirlines Arena on Saturday, March 31.

WWE has a very good working relationship with the AAA, home to the Miami Heat and many WWE events. Edge, The Four Horsemen and Mil Mascaras are already announced for the 2012 Class. More will be announced in the coming weeks on WWE TV.

Before the on-sale, South Florida sports radio station AM 790TheTicket is giving away WWE Hall of Fame tickets on its weekday morning show, hosted by sports talk show talent Jorge Sedano, who got his start co-hosting a pro wrestling radio show years ago.
