BELLE GLADE Detectives have made a second arrest in the murder of Belle Glade grocery store owner and bass fishing pro Jimmy McMillan.

Johnathan Jones, 20, of Belle Glade, is being held at the West Detention Center in Belle Glade and will face a judge Wednesday morning during his first appearance hearing. He was arrested for being an accessory after the fact of a capital felony, tampering or destroying evidence and battery.

It took five days for sheriff's detectives to place handcuffs on 19-year-old Corey Graham Jr., a 19-year-old Palm Beach State College dropout, for the Jan. 2 shooting death of McMillan in his family's popular Alabama Georgia Grocery Store.

It was a quick resolution to the high-profile robbery-homicide, which doesn't happen often in the tight-lipped community of Belle Glade.

In a Monday interview with Graham's mother, Errica Hearns told detectives that she had found a handgun in a dresser drawer in his bedroom. She described it as a revolver with green tape wrapped around the handle, according to a probable cause affidavit. She removed the weapon from the room.

Three days after McMillan's murder, Graham returned home with Jones. While Jones stood outside, Graham searched for the gun but couldn't find it, the affidavit states. He pleaded with his mother to give it back, and she returned it, fearing that Jones would hurt her or her family, she told detectives.

Detectives received an anonymous tip that the handgun used in the murder matched Hearns' description of the gun, the affidavit states.

Graham is being held without bail in the Palm Beach County Jail after he was arrested Saturday on charges of murder, aggravated assault with a firearm and armed robbery.

Jones was released from jail early October last year after serving about a year in prison for a fatal drive-by shooting which killed 18-year-old James Sanford in Belle Glade on Oct. 13, 2010.

According to the sheriff's office, Sanford was standing with two other men in the 700 block of Southwest Avenue D about 7:45 p.m. Oct. 13 when gunmen fired from a minivan, killing Sanford and wounding Javarous Spivey, of Riviera Beach, in the leg.

Gang detectives canvassed the neighborhood and tracked down witnesses, who identified 22-year-old Erskine McKinley and Jones as attackers, the sheriff's office said.

Jones was arrested on charges of first-degree murder with a firearm, three counts each of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm and aggravated battery, and one count of shooting from a vehicle.

McKinley, who was later found in Harris County, Texas, by the U.S. Marshals Task Force, was charged with murder and attempted murder.

McKinley has not been released from jail, records show.
