Dangerous breed

 

I’m dismayed that a baseball player coming to play for our Marlins, Mark Buehrle, has taken up as a cause the plight of the pit bull terrier ( He’s a Marlin, but not in Miami, Jan. 6).

I applaud the Miami-Dade Commission for banning pit bull ownership.

Who can forget the tragic and horrific dog attack that was inflicted on a local youngster when he was attacked by a pit bull running loose? The poor boy had his face ripped off and had to undergo many severe and painful surgeries. Broward County needs to follow Miami-Dade’s lead and protect its residents and our children. I see too many people with their pit bulls roaming Broward streets these days.

    Re the May 22 letter The goal: more water conservation: You cannot tell existing homeowners to limit water-sprinkler use while building more homes, each having showers, dishwashers, sprinklers, etc.
