With regard to police-union concessions, the vote of a majority of the Miami-Dade County Commission’s on Thursday reflected residents’ desire.
Citizens never wanted public safety to be affected. They want government services streamlined and resources allocated more efficiently.
Most of those who were elected in the past few years based on tax reform promised that the safety of our community wouldn’t be jeopardized. Our citizens want the level of protection maintained or increased. Our tourism depends on a perception of safety and security.
The message was clear; constituents don’t want public-safety forces reduced. Hear the public’s mandate — find the money elsewhere.
