Stafford takes Week 16 crown, but season title in Brees’ grasp

The Lions’ Matthew Stafford takes Week 16 honors but Drew Brees of the Saints remains the bigger story in The Miami Herald’s 14th season of Passer Success System (PASS) quarterback rankings. Brees’ 54.50-points lead over second place Aaron Rodgers of the Packers is all but insurmountable entering the season’s final week. Brees’ season total also is only eight points shy of breaking the all-time mark of 664.30 points set by Patriot Tom Brady in 2007. The Herald’s rankings, unchanged since their inception in 1998, are cumulative and factor accuracy, yardage, TD/INT ratio and team result. The Top 20 leaderboard entering Week 17:
