Holland & Knight's Public Policy & Regulation Group has eliminated charging clients by the hour and moved to a fixed fee. The new billing arrangement makes Holland & Knight’s group the largest national practice group to make this change.
The firm's Public Policy & Regulation Practice Group consists of more than 100 lawyers and other professionals engaged in federal, state and local government affairs, regulatory counseling, and related disciplines. The law firm has dozens of other practice groups that have not eliminated hourly billing.
“Our number one priority is to help clients reach their goals and moving away from a distracting and burdensome system of billable hours will help our team focus more on outcomes," said Eric Eikenberg, Co-Chair of the firm's Florida Government Advocacy Team.
Hourly billing is a practice deeply engrained in the legal profession but in recent years, firms have been moving away from this toward more creative billing arrangements.
