Five real estate professionals with South Florida ties have been named among Forbes Magazine’s top 30 young people in the industry.
Danny Hertzberg, a 29-year-old Miami Beach-based real estate agent specializing in luxury homes and condos, sold $30 million in homes this year to land a spot on the list.
Hertzberg, whose mother also sells luxury homes as part of The Jills real estate team, got an early start in the family business, and has been selling homes since he was a University of Miami student.
“When I was a little kid, I’d be on the way to school with my mom, and we’d stop by at a showing or an open house,” he said. “I grew up in real estate.”
Dina Goldentayer, another Miami Beach luxury real estate agent on Forbes’ list, got an early start in the real estate business as well.
“I purchased my first condo in South Beach when I was 22,” she said. “I saw the process and what my agent did and thought this would be something I could do.”
Goldentayer, who is 29 and hails from Russia, leads a team that sold $50 million worth of homes and condos in 2011. Reflecting the dynamics of South Florida’s unique market, more than half of her sales have been all cash, and many have gone to Russians and other international buyers.
Miami-born David Vivero launched RentJuice, a website that offers rental listing and tools to facilitate the rental process, in 2008. The 28-year-old received $6.2 million in venture capital funding this year, and also made Forbes’ “30 under 30” list. His company targets other young people, as Americans are opting to rent for longer periods before owning their first home.
“The typical renter rents about 10 times between the age of 22 and the mid-30s,” he said in an interview with the Miami Herald earlier this year.
Other South Floridians recognized by Forbes are:
Viktoria Telek, a 29-year-old real estate broker in Fort Lauderdale, represents more than 3 million square feet of commercial space a fitness boot camp for corporate clients.
Oren Alexander, 24, sells property in the New York and Miami areas. He’s sold more than $100 million in homes, and currently has Miami’s most expensive listing—a $60 million home on Indian Creek Drive.
Next to New York, South Florida had the most real estate professionals on Forbes’ first annual 30 under 30 list.
