A Hollywood police officer shot a man Friday morning after he refused to stop and rammed into two police cars, according to police.

Derrick Harvey, 44, was recovering at Memorial Regional Hospital from a non-life threatening wound.

At about 2 a.m. Hollywood police were called to assist Miami-Dade Police with a driver who had refused to pull over.

The car was heading eastbound on Monroe Street and hit a dead end at South 24th Avenue.

Harvey pulled into a driveway, and attempted to go westbound when he rammed into a police car, backed up and then hit a second car, police said.

Anyone with information about this incident should call the Hollywood Police Department at 954-967-HELP or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
